The Western Cape Government is seeking to employ a vibrant Professional Architect to provide expert project management  services  for  various  infrastructure projects  which are compliant with legislation, regulations, norms and standards  for  the Chief Directorate: General Infrastructure. Requirements:

B degree in Architecture or equivalent as recognized  by SACAP;    Compulsory registration as a professional Architect  with  SACAP;  •  Minimum  of  3  years  appropriate post  qualification  Architectural  experience;  •  Valid  Code B driver’s  licence.  NB: Applicants  not  yet  registered  as  professional  Architect  with  SACAP  must  submit  proof of  their  application   for   registration,  please.

Recommended:

Knowledge and/ or experience of : • Contract documentation and administration, Act/Regulations of Occupation Health & Safety (OHS- Act) , National Build ing Regulations, SANS and all relevant built environment legislation; Programme/project management, Research and planning procedures; Financial management and Formulation  of  policies  in  a multi-disciplinary  professional  environment.

Key Performance Areas:

  • Perform Architectural activities on state-owned or leased buildings, structures or facilities; Management of framework, term service, main contractors, direct contractors and consultant agreements including management of contract administration and payment processes;
  • Research and development to keep abreast of new technologies and procedures, including interaction with professional councils, boards and organisations;
  • Project administration and budget planning;
  • Human resource development.

Competencies:

  • Skills in the following: Leadership, communication, organizing and teamwork; Verbal and written communication skills in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape;
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines;
  • Conflict management;
  • Ability to work in a team.

Remuneration:

R 549 639 per annum (Salary level OSD) Note on remuneration: Cost-to-employer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain occupation-specific dispensations {OSD), the middle-management service (MMS) and contract positions are inclusive of all costs related to service benefits or obligations including basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc. MMS remuneration packages are flexible and may be individually structured as prescribed. Where remuneration is not indicated as CTE, employees’ service benefits or obligations are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
